Cadenhead Shreffler Insurance (CSI) was formed in the spring of 1985 when Bill Cadenhead and Jack Shreffler, owners of Cadenhead Insurance Agency and American Commerce Insurance, merged their individually owned agencies.
While the merger made CSI one of the largest agencies in the mid-cities, size was not the goal. The goal was not to be the biggest - but the best. By combining the strengths of each agency, the merger significantly enhanced capacity for customer service.
CSI continued to grow at a measured, calculated rate. We adopted a long term business philosophy that focuses on building a trusted advisor relationship with our clients. Pursuing this philosophy allows us to help our clients reduce their total cost of risk (TCOR).

IBI's roots go as far back as 1946. Through different strategic plans, IBI grew to be one of the largest independently owned agencies in the state of Texas. In 1997, owners Joe Clayburne and Pat Moore merged their insurance and bonding agencies together to create Insurance & Bonds, Inc. In 2002, IBI Benefits of Texas was developed.
Located in San Antonio, TX, IBI was a premium full-service provider for surety bonds, commercial lines, personal lines, and employee benefits. In early 2003, IBI began to understand that covering risk is more than purchasing an insurance policy. The company began to change its philosophy more to developing long-term relationships that help clients to minimize their risk, and bring more to an insurance program than a mere transaction.
Today, IBTX Risk Services has combined the philosophies of both CSI and IBI to deliver strategic tools to help clients not only minimize their risk, but become more profitable as well. |
